At 6:26 p.m., police responded to Vanderpool Street near Sherman Avenue and found a man who had been shot, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. He was transported to University Hospital and is in critical but stable condition, Fragé said.
The shooting remains under investigation, Fragé said.
